SUNSIERAY CIERRA DEAS
"Sunsie" was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 6, 1995 to her parents Gary and Venita Deas. From the start Sunsie was a happy, outspoken child who was full-of-life and not afraid to take chances. In her tender years, Sunsie enjoyed spending time with her mother, regularly participating in church services; preparing family meals together; and wearing matching outfit for all to see. Two years later her brother, Gary Jr., joined their family, and the two developed an inseparable bond that remained until her last breathe. Anybody who knew them knew, if you messed with Gary you messed with Sunsie which meant you really messed up!
Sunsie was educated in the Philadelphia School District, where she graduated from Young Women Leadership School in 2012. Upon graduating, Sunsie earned her Cosmetology Certification from Empire Beauty School. She loved everything hair, make-up and fashion. Reminding her of the memories with her mother, Sunsie enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, and her love for sushi was undeniable! No matter where she was, she could locate the closest sushi restaurant nearby. Driven to be her best, Sunsie was not satisfied with only being certified in cosmetology. She aspired to become a lawyer one day. Excited, Sunsie pursued her dream in 2015 when she was accepted and enrolledat Kutztown University. There she majored in Forensic Anthropology. Sunsie proudly took her studies serious, achieving admirable grades along the way. After successfully completing her freshman year, Sunsie decided to take some time off to invest in her personal growth and development. During this quest, she encountered countless kindred spirits, forming friendships and sisterhoods that she held close to her heart.
Over time Sunsie's health challenges began presenting obstacles for her. Fighting to the very end, her optimistic personality and her "it is what it is" approach to life helped her overcome medical barriers most professionals doubted that she would. Sunsie had a way of using humor to brighten even the darkest days. Although her untimely transition left many of us heartbroken, we find solace in knowing she is freefrom pain and that she is rejoicing in Heaven with her Mommy and God-Mommy.
