Walter M. Hirst, resident of Pennypack for over 60 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the age of 85, surrounded by his family. Walter was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia and attended high school at Father Judge High School before leaving school early to enlist into the U.S. Navy where he earned his G.E.D.  He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Philadelphia Electric (PECO) for over 30 years.  Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda Hirst (nee Cary).
He is survived by his loving daughter, Linda Sill (Frederick), son Walter (Michael) Hirst and son Christopher Hirst (Sharon); grandchildren Brian Sill (Tarin), Lauren Hirst, Matthew Hirst and Thomas Hirst; Siblings John Hirst, Barry Hirst and Connie Klinke. He will also be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Wednesday, October 04, 2023, viewing from 10 AM until 10:45 AM at St. Dominic Church, 8504 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa 19136, followed by his Funeral Mass 11 AM. Interment St. Dominic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s memory can be made to American Cancer Society.
